About the event
The sixth annual Moonshine Endurance swim from New Brunswick to Prince Edward Island will take place on Saturday, August 7th, 2021. Registartion opens on April 19th, 2021. Registration will close when we reach 10 swimmers and a wait-list will be started.
Fundraising requirments
Each swimmer must raise a minimum of $1,000. Kayakers are encouraged to also fundraise. All funds go to support the Moonshine Endurance sports infrastructure project.
Safety Requirments
Every swimmer must be accompanied by a Certified kayaker. It is the responsibility of the swimmer to acquire a qualified kayaker and without one, they will not be permitted to swim. Each kayaker is required to acquire the necessary safety gear, as recommended by Transport Canada. Without this safety gear, the kayaker will not be permitted to paddle leaving their swimmer without a paddler.
Accomidations
Participants need to book and pay for their own rooms. Please note that kayakers and swimmers will be required to attend a mandatory session the afternoon prior to swim day. More details to follow soon.

Refunds
There will be no refunds given withen 30 days of the start of the event.
Cancelation
There are times when we must cancel a program due to inclement weather. In this occurrence, a credit will be issued. If a program is cancelled due to an unforeseen emergency, participants will receive a full refund if no alternative program can accommodate the participant. If a cancellation occurs after a program is in process, a credit will be given.
Covid policy
Safety precaution
Each swimmer must participate with their own kayaker.
Limitations
There will be no spectators allowed in the immediate vicinity of challenge start/finish.
Social Distancing
We will not be encouraging any close contact for on-land activities. A propane fire will be started for safety reasons, but there will be no seating provided. Participants will be reminded to maintain a 2m spacing from other groups. Masks are strongly encouraged (as well, participants will be asked to bring their own) for pre & post-event communications.
Pre-swim
Communication is online, when the swimmer arrives they will be encouraged to keep a 2m distance from other swimmers for the pre-event briefing. Â Please arrive no earlier than 1 hour prior to scheduled start time.
Swim start
Swimmers will line up along the beach, 2m apart (within the width of the designated area). While the swimmers are in the water they will not be within 2m of one another (exceptions made for rescues).
Swim end
Swimmers will be encouraged to stay 2m apart from one another.
Post-Swim
Our apologies, we will not be hosting the annual Swashbuckler ( post-challenge ceremony ) and there will be no food served. Participants will be encouraged to head back home rather than stay and visit with one another to limit personal contact and promote social distancing.
