The Moonshine Endurance crew was able to corner Jarrod “Yoda” Yeo and ask him a few questions about his involvement in our upcoming endurance challenges taking place this August on PEI. A Summerside born native, Yoda now hangs his hat in Saint John, NB and spends his free time exploring the Atlantic Canadian shorelines by kayak. A universal optimist at heart and always up for adventure, Yoda is sure to add another PEI feather to his cap this year when he attempts to bike across PEI on August 14th.
What made you sign up for these endurance challenges?
I love adventure! Father Time waits for no man, so why not do these things now? I don’t want to get old and regret not taking advantage of my (fleeting) youth. It’s also a great day hanging out with friends and it’s obviously a nice feather in your cap when you can say you paddled across the Northumberland Strait or peddled across P.E.I.
What is training like?
Having events of this magnitude circled on the calendar helps to keep you motivated during the hot summer months when you’d just as soon be drinking beer and eating cheeseburgers. I’ve been running consistently since December and have been kayaking around New London Bay in preparation for Mother Northumberland.
Why should others sign up?
Why not? It’s a great opportunity to make friends and to push your mind and body to achieve something you maybe thought wasn’t possible. Health is wealth and the best part is that it’s all in the name of a good cause.
